The black ice maker is not too bulky and fits well on my countertop. According to the manual, the unit measures 14.6 inches deep, 9.3 inches wide, and 14.8 inches tall. It requires at least six inches of clearance behind it and on the sides for proper ventilation. Weighing 25.4 pounds, the machine feels substantial when moved, but this weight contributes to its stability. The rubber feet on the bottom protect my countertop from scratches. It includes a pair of stainless steel ice tongs that work well for lifting cubes without dropping them. The water tank holds up to 2 liters, and I use only drinking water, as the manual specifies. When I press the ICE button, the display shows a countdown and the ice-making indicator lights up. The process takes about 35 minutes, producing clear ice cubes with a small hole in the center. I can switch to transparent ice mode by holding the ICE button for two seconds. The indicator flashes, and the process takes longer, but the cubes come out even clearer. I notice the hole in the cube becomes smaller when I adjust the cycle time. To do this, I hold the DOWN/SET button for five seconds in standby mode and use the UP/LIGHT or DOWN/SET buttons to change the duration. I prefer a slightly shorter cycle. The ice storage drawer holds up to 2 liters of ice. When full, the machine stops automatically. I open the drawer to remove the ice and sometimes need to nudge the cubes apart since they tend to stick together. The included tongs allow me to grab them cleanly. For later use, I can set a timer for the machine to start in three hours by pressing DOWN/SET and adjusting the time with UP/LIGHT. I find it helpful that the machine begins on its own. I clean the unit once a month. I unplug it, drain the water from the front bottom cap, and refill it with fresh water. Then I press CLEAN and let the cycle run for 15 minutes. Afterward, I drain it again and wipe everything dry. I also keep the air inlet and hot air outlet clear of dust so the system runs efficiently. The machine operates quietly. I replace the water in the tank every 24 hours when not in use, and when I go away for a few days, I drain it completely and leave the drawer open to prevent odors.
